Brightline offering spring BOGO deals

Intercity rail operator Brightline is out with a new deal that could save you money on a spring getaway to Florida.

Brightline on Tuesday announced a buy-one, get-one deal on tickets purchased over the next several days — and it applies to trips taken from April 1 through the end of May.

It could mean a family of four only pays for two tickets, making it more affordable to ride the fast-moving train between Brightline’s five South Florida stations — or from the state’s east coast to the terminals at Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Sample trip

Brightline’s buy-one, get-one deal applies to its standard “Smart” fares.

Because this sale applies to trips taken beginning April 1, it should cover any April spring break trips — and even Memorial Day weekend trips, marking the start of the summer travel season.

Once on Brightline’s website, you’ll plug in your trip origin, destination, date(s) and number of travelers. You’ll need to enter the promo code “FAST” right away at this step.

Then, click “Apply” before searching for tickets.

Once your code is applied, the buy-one, get-one offer should show up as you search itineraries. It’ll actually display as two 50%-off tickets. So, for this April 5 trip from Orlando to Miami, instead of paying as little as $54 per person for this slate of options, I’m paying $27 per person.

Again, this deal does not apply to Brightline’s higher-priced premium fares, which include a handful of perks like lounge access.

Maximize your purchase

Pay for your train trip with a card that earns bonus points or miles on everyday purchases or on broad “travel” expenses. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card earns 2 points per dollar spent on travel. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card earn 2 miles per dollar spent on every purchase, every day. Also, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card earns 3 points per dollar on the first $150,000 spent on travel and select business categories each anniversary year.

Bottom line

Brightline announced the deal as a celebration of sorts after recently landing on Fast Company’s list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024.

Launched in 2018, Brightline extended its service to Orlando last fall, providing travelers with an easier link between Central Florida’s theme parks and South Florida’s beaches.

Its future plans call for an extension to Tampa and Florida’s Gulf Coast as well as a new station in Stuart, the company revealed earlier this month.

Brightline is also plotting an entirely new high-speed line out west.
