Best all-inclusive resorts and packages in Bora Bora

Mention to anyone that you’re headed to Bora Bora, and you’re sure to elicit oohs and ahhs. It’s a dreamy, paradisiac location with otherworldly striking landscapes around every corner: crystal-clear turquoise lagoons alive with colorful sea life, jagged volcanic peaks piercing the sky and palms gently swaying in the tropical breeze.

It’s also well-known to be a very expensive destination, with a collection of top-tier luxury resorts ready to meet soaring expectations; starting price points often fall in the four figures (or high-value points rates). Still, there are properties with more accessible price points — even those with the region’s signature accommodation: the overwater bungalow.

While the destination isn’t known for having many all-inclusive resorts, many of these hotels do offer all-inclusive or partially inclusive packages as options at the time of booking. (This way, you can spend less time scrutinizing menu prices and more time properly relaxing.)

Whatever you choose, these eight Bora Bora resorts will greet you with Polynesian style, warm hospitality and views sure to drop your jaw.

Situated on Bora Bora’s surrounding coral atoll, this sprawling resort meanders over 54 pristine acres and through lagoons (including a protected inner lagoon) and features a sparkling beach dotted with a small swim-out island. A dream destination for couples, this is also the spot in Bora Bora for families; it has a Kids for All Seasons clubhouse featuring a splash pad and camplike cultural, scientific and arts programming.

The resort offers 108 overwater bungalow suites and seven beachfront villa estates, all designed with thatched roofs and decorated with indigenous artwork. Each bungalow contains two flat-screen TVs and video on demand (uncommon for the destination), as well as signature Four Seasons beds and large soaking tubs with lagoon views. All bungalows offer a pullout bed to accommodate families, and 27 bungalows offer their own plunge pools.

Te Mahana Spa has a soaring 72-foot ceiling and open-air or air-conditioned treatment rooms. There’s also the spacious Fare Miti Spa Suite, which has a glass floor suspended over the lagoon.

There are multiple restaurants on-site: The open-air Tere Nui has 180-degree views of the lagoon, the beach and Mount Otemanu. You can book only the accommodation, or you can add on meal plan options that include breakfast and dinner or all three meals.

To call out particularly epic views in a destination filled with them seems almost superfluous, but Conrad Bora Bora Nui truly offers some of the best of the best. It is situated atop the private cove of Motu To’opua and affords elevated views of the striated blue lagoon hues below. Because of its location, it’s the only property in Bora Bora with panoramic sunrise-to-sunset views.

The resort’s 114 overwater villas and hillside suites are all Polynesian-style. The property also happens to be home to the only two-story presidential overwater villas in Bora Bora — a boon for larger families or groups.

The property features five restaurants and bars, along with 24-hour in-villa dining and a weekly Polynesian show and dinner at Tamure Beach Grill. Each morning, the resort’s in-house viennoiserie prepares freshly baked pastries. (Book the lodging alone, or add on daily breakfast.)

Conrad offers the largest stretch of white sand beach in the destination, as well as the largest infinity pool in Bora Bora with a swim-up bar. The Tamariki Kids Club offers kids programming.

When you want to relax, the Hina Spa sits up high on the hill with Mount Otemanu and Maupiti Island views and features products from Biologique Recherche.

The St. Regis Bora Bora offers the biggest overwater villas in French Polynesia (and in the South Pacific), with floor plans starting at 1,550 square feet. Each has a separate living room and bedroom, with oversized bathrooms and glass viewing panels cut into the floor throughout. Each comes with the brand’s signature butler service, available 24 hours a day.

Dining options include the Lagoon overwater restaurant, plus Bamboo (Asian), Te Pahu (international) and Farniente Ristorante (Italian) concepts. Various packages, including full board, are available for an inclusive experience.

The spa is on its own private island, and there is both an adults-only pool (with private cabanas) and a main pool (with a swim-up bar). Several pontoons allow easy access for snorkeling and exploring the “lagoonarium” — a protected sanctuary for underwater species of eye-popping tropical fish and coral.

Situated on the impeccable shores of Motu Piti Aau beach, this Intercontinental property is accessible only by boat. The resort offers 84 overwater villas decorated with Polynesian designs.

There are six different on-site restaurants and bars, an overwater glass-bottomed chapel and the first overwater Thalasso spa in the southern hemisphere, which uses water from the Pacific depths in its modalities. The Deep Ocean Spa features glass-floored overwater treatment rooms so you can watch the serene sea life during a solo or couple’s treatment.

Book the lodging only, or splurge for an inclusive stay with dinner and breakfast packages. The signature open-air restaurant, Reef, serves Mediterranean fare. It offers weekly Polynesian dance performances complemented by overflowing buffets of international dishes and local specialties, as well as Asian themed-dinners.

This property is home to notable sustainability achievements: It pioneered the world’s first private Sea Water Air Conditioning, a sustainable technology using cold deep-sea water to cool the resort. InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort on Matira Point has a range of accommodations. There are 12 beach bungalows with views of the lagoon (two are wheelchair accessible) as well as overwater bungalows of all sizes. There’s even a pair of two overwater bungalows linked by a lounge for groups or large families.

Inside the overwater bungalows, you can watch tropical fish swimming through a glass coffee table in the separate living room. (The living room is also outfitted with two flat-screen TVs plus a sofa bed, so each can accommodate two adults and a child.) On the sundecks, you’ll find loungers, an outdoor shower and direct lagoon access.

Biweekly theme nights at the main restaurant, Noa Noa, showcase local Polynesian dishes and traditional dance performances. Guests may choose to dine in the on-site restaurants or in their bungalow; you can also arrange a special meal on the beachfront or at the end of your pontoon. Some may even opt for a (ridiculously Instagrammable) breakfast delivered by outrigger canoe. Dinner and breakfast packages are available.

The Deep Ocean Spa is at Le Moana’s sister property, the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, which you can access by shuttle boat.

Situated on Motu Tevairoa — 10 minutes by boat from the airport and 15 minutes across the lagoon from the village of Vaitape — this Relais & Chateaux property offers 108 accommodations. Options include the destination’s signature overwater bungalows, garden villas and beach villas. The villas all have their own pools and views of Mount Otemanu.

There are three restaurants and two bars, with French and Polynesian influences; breakfast is included with all reservations. The Tavai Spa offers Vichy shower body scrubs, hot stone massages with fragrant monoi oil and the local taurumi massage.

Nonmotorized water sports are available for guests, including stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, outrigger canoes and snorkeling equipment. On land, there’s a tennis court, minigolf, pingpong, pool table, volleyball, petanque and a fully air-conditioned gym (though why exercise indoors with so much natural beauty amid which to work up a sweat outdoors?).

Maitai is situated amid lush tropical gardens near Matira Beach, the only public beach on the island. It’s a great option for budget-minded travelers, with 28 entry-level garden-view rooms available at a modest starting price point. At the high end, accommodations range to premium overwater bungalows, which are recently remodeled with spacious terraces, glass coffee tables with lagoon views below and space for three guests.

Though not as tricked out as the luxury resorts on private motus, this property does offer 24-hour reception, Wi-Fi throughout, an activities and excursion desk, and the options to rent e-bikes, regular bikes, kayaks, canoes and snorkeling equipment for no extra fees.

On-site dining options include the Haere Mai restaurant, which offers a traditional Polynesian show (and has kids menus available), the casual Tama’a Maitai restaurant and the Manuia Bar. Half-board packages are available.

Rates at Hotel Mai Tai Polynesia start at about $228.

This is the most affordable option on our list. While it’s a very modest hotel when compared with its luxurious counterparts, it can make a moderately priced stay in an otherwise prohibitively expensive destination possible.

All of this hotel’s 80 rooms are in the expansive tropical garden on the mountainside; four are wheelchair accessible. The Ori Sri restaurant, the beach bar and the swimming pool are on the seaside. From here, there’s direct access to the white sand beach and spectacular views of Motu Piti Uu’Uta. Local bands perform twice a week for an immersive Polynesian experience.

Guests can rent snorkeling gear as well as kayaks or beach bikes by the half day or full day. Wi-Fi is included, and it’s available in rooms and common spaces alike. The icing on top? Breakfast is included with the stay.
